Explore Amritsar

Amritsar, the spiritual and cultural heart of Punjab, is a city that resonates with history, devotion, and vibrant life. Famous worldwide for the majestic Golden Temple, the city offers a unique blend of heritage, traditional Punjabi hospitality, and a rich culinary legacy that is second to none. From the solemn history of Jallianwala Bagh to the patriotic fervor of the Wagah Border, Amritsar promises an unforgettable journey into the soul of India.

Golden Temple

The Golden Temple, or Sri Harmandir Sahib, is the most sacred site in Sikhism and one of the most serene locations in India. Covered in 750kg of pure gold, the temple sits in the middle of a massive man-made pool known as the 'Amrit Sarovar'. It is a place of profound peace, where the 'Langar' (community kitchen) serves free meals to over 100,000 people daily, regardless of their faith or background.

Visiting at night is particularly magical when the temple glows under the lights and its reflection sparkles in the holy waters.

Jallianwala Bagh

Located just a few steps from the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh is a public garden that stands as a somber memorial to the tragic massacre of 1919. The site preserves the bullet marks on the walls and the 'Martyr's Well' into which people jumped to escape the gunfire. It is a place of deep historical significance that evokes a sense of patriotism and reflection on India's struggle for independence.

Wagah Border

The Beating Retreat ceremony at the Wagah Border, about 30km from Amritsar, is a high-energy military practice that the security forces of India and Pakistan have jointly followed since 1959. The ceremony is characterized by elaborate and rapid dance-like maneuvers, synchronized marching, and the lowering of the flags, accompanied by thousands of cheering spectators on both sides.

Sadda pind

Sadda Pind is a dedicated Living Museum established to preserve the art, culture, and history of traditional rural Punjab. Situated in the historic city of Amritsar, our 12-acre living museum serves as a Scientific Reconstruction of a 19th-century agrarian settlement, allowing all visitors to engage with the vanishing traditions of our ancestors.

War Memorial

The Punjab State War Heroes Memorial and Museum stands as a solemn tribute to the valour, sacrifice, and resilience of those who laid down their lives in service of the nation. Located in Amritsar, Punjab, this poignant memorial and museum serve as a repository of history, preserving the memory of Punjab's brave sons and daughters who fought valiantly in defence of their homeland.

Durgiana Temple

Also known as Lakshmi Narayan Temple, the Durgiana Temple is an important Hindu pilgrimage site in Amritsar. Its architecture heavily mirrors the Golden Temple, with its main dome also covered in gold and situated in the middle of a lake. Dedicated to Goddess Durga, it is a significant center for Hindu festivities in the city.
